Magic Mountain opened in 1971 on a hilltop in Valencia, just across Interstate 5 from the neighborhoods of Santa Clarita. It became a Six Flags park in 1979 and is known for crowding an unusually large number of roller coasters onto one site. The tallest rides can be seen from the freeway for miles in either direction.
